Virtual Projects
Summer Dance Spectacular with PSO
Attack Theatre Co-founder and Artistic Director Michele de la Reza hosts an energetic exploration of different dance styles, where they come from, what they look like, what they sound like, and how they continue to change and evolve. This 32-minute program features collaborators from Pittsburgh Tango Connection, STAYCEE PEARL dance project, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
Translations
In Translations, we explore ideas that were generated and captured in a two-dimensional digital landscape with renewed abandon and spaciousness. Derived from a multi-faceted investigation of a year of pandemic creations, this performance offers a behind-the-scenes look at our translation of art from words to movement, artist to artist, and screen to stage.
Hope in Hardship
Produced in partnership with Shining Light, this 13-minute short film brings the creation of Leonard T to life through theatre, dance, and music. This work accompanies nine others in the anthology: Confessions of a Caged Bird, vol. 2, an interdisciplinary production of artist works by incarcerated individuals.
Art Transports Us
Created as a virtual field trip in collaboration with students of Stanwood Elementary School, Art Transports Us features ten dance vignettes produced in response to works of visual art at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto and Ligonier.
I : I
Created in collaboration with Brooklyn-based choreographer Janessa Clark, this 15-minute dance film follows four individuals as they excavate memories and experiences on a journey toward new ways of being and connecting with one another.
Front Row, Episode 3 with PSO
Attack Theatre partnered with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for their digital series: Front Row. For the third episode of this series, Attack Theatre dancers were filmed live in Heinz Hall, performing before a vast and empty auditorium. Music for this piece was composed by Gabriela Lena Frank, the recipient of the 25th Anniversary Heinz Awards.
E-Motion
Attack Theatre presents a new virtual residency program designed to connect with students remotely. Through a hybrid of pre-recorded lesson plans and live virtual sessions, students engage with a variety of creative movement concepts to energize learning, promote physical activity, and encourage connection.
Cello Diary
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we jumped into action and created a mini-series of dance-from-home videos in collaboration with musician Dave Eggar. This five-episode series features solo responses to weekly prompts that kept our creative juices flowing from our remote studios.
