Episode one: Three-Word Day
Cello Diary is a virtual dance-making exploration that began in collaboration with cellist and composer, Dave Eggar. We asked Dave to create five musical thoughts and brought them to Attack Theatre dancers to generate movement inspired from these solo cello works. From there we took to social media to ask our friends to share three-word descriptions of their day. The music and these word phrases formed the basis of our movement investigation. The resulting video is our diary from the first days in isolation... our Cello Diary - Episode One.
Episode Two: Everyday Objects
On March 25th we asked Dave Eggar if he can play the cello with a spatula. It turns out he can. For the second installment of Cello Diary, we explored the simple objects in our surroundings to find creative inspiration, to find movement and music that's a little unconventional.
Episode Three: Bach and a Chair
On April 2nd, we explored some classic inspirations. For cello, it was Bach; for dance, it was a chair. What results is a study in time and the challenge persistent waiting.
Episode Four: The World Around Us
Dave Eggar connected us with some musicians from around the globe for our latest installment of our virtual dance-making project, Cello Diary. We've been cooped up a while, so in this episode, we listened to new music from Nashville, Belgium, New York City, Australia, and Connecticut as we explored the world outside our homes.

Episode Five: The Elements
The latest installment of our virtual dance-making project features five musical pieces, composed by Carolyn Regula, Chuck Palmer, and Dave Eggar, mixed by Johnny Nice. Each piece expresses an element that we brought inside. The movement created by each dancer embodies a process that began with a poem. Each performer crafted a response to their particular element. From this writing exercise, the dancers filmed a physical articulation of their reflections.
