Movement Makers

About the program

Movement Makers uses dance, visual art, and creative play as mediums to encourage the development of children as life-long art makers, movers, and learners. This program is built on the power of creative movement and play to foster positive physical and emotional development and build healthy social relationships.

The Summer Break Program is designed for students in grades K-5 to develop a greater understanding of dance and visual art as art forms, generate original movement sequences that reflect a variety of dance styles, create an assortment of visual art projects, and address social and emotional wellness needs through physical activities and games.

The activities will utilize movement, art, and the creative process as engaging tools to:

  • Enhance problem solving skills.

  • Build interdisciplinary connections.

  • Develop interpersonal communication and cooperation skills.

  • Explore abstract and metaphoric thinking.

  • Encourage physical and emotional self-confidence.

  • Promote life-long healthy habits.

  • Investigate the creative process.

Many of the activities and objectives of the program will rely on students’ experience and input, with a focus on creating personally relevant and individualized learning strategies. Attack Theatre activities are specifically designed to accommodate students of diverse abilities and learning styles. Throughout the activities, students are encouraged to participate within the realm of their abilities, while also challenging themselves as they learn new physical skills and creative methods.
